Introducing the 2011-2012 EcoRangers

Shilaquay Carbajal has worked for EcoServants for the last two summers.  She joined AmeriCorps so she could interact in the community she has grown up in.  This year she hopes to bring the community together to build a more sustainable future.

Robert Eldred has lived in the Ruidoso area for the last 12 years and has helped in many projects in the local schools.  He chose to join EcoRangers in order to continue working with youth and to give back to his community.

Nicholas Giusti has been living in Ruidoso since 2006.  He joined AmeriCorps in order to take direct action and serve the community.  He is looking forward to educating people on how to be more self-sufficient and creative ways to reuse resources.

Molly Heuss moved to Ruidoso from Hooksett, New Hampshire.  She joined the program because she is interested in bridgin the gap between natural resource conservation and community health.  She is looking forward to being a part of such a close-knit community and hopes to help strengthen it throughout the year.

Alvin Smith moved to Ruidoso from Chicago, Illinois.  He joined the program to get hands on experience working with environmental issues and helping with community development.  He is excited to be joining the community and is looking forward to the oncoming year.

Casey Stephenson moved down to Ruidoso from Bayfield, Colorado.  She chose to join AmeriCorps to gain experience working to help preserve the environment and to see a new part of the country.  This year she is looking forward to working in the community and promoting more environmental education.

Who are Ecoservants?

EcoServants was granted its 501 C 3 non profit status in 2004 with a mission "To employ, engage and educate youth to serve and restore the community and its resources"

We started as cave stewardship organization and quickly transformed to a youth corps summer program, which we have run since 2006. In 2007 we started our AmeriCorps program which places full time members in 4 schools and an after school program
